Dallas Stars Hockey Camp
The Dallas Stars and the Dr Pepper StarCenter are proud to announce a partnership with the Okanagan Hockey School to present the Dallas Stars Summer Hockey Camp. The Okanagan Hockey School is the largest and longest running hockey school in the world, currently entering its 45th year. With participants from over 24 countries, The Okanagan Hockey School is truly an international experience.
“ We are extremely excited to partner with one of the top National Hockey League teams. The reputation for excellence and success is a vision that is shared by both the Dallas Stars and the Okanagan Hockey School. With this venture we are looking forward to helping improve the young hockey player development in the Dallas and Fort Worth area.” Andy Oakes, Okanagan Hockey School President.
The Dallas Stars Summer Hockey Camp will run from August 17th – August 23rd, 2008, at the Farmers Branch Dr Pepper StarCenter. This unique opportunity gives players a chance to experience NHL caliber training presented by professional instructors. This weeklong session is open to players from 7-16 years of age. Each ice session features comprehensive training techniques to help every player reach their full playing potential. The daily off-ice activities include dryland training, featuring the latest techniques in core strength training as well as hockey specific workouts. Each day will also feature an off-ice seminar that ranges from nutrition to the mental side of becoming a better all-around hockey player. The week will allow students the opportunity to see what it takes to become a pro hockey player, while of course, having fun! Of course the Dallas Stars Summer Hockey Camp wouldn’t be complete without a few special guests during the week, including Stars coaches.
“The Dallas Stars are proud to be affiliated with the Okanagan Hockey Schools. Historically, OHS have run one of the most highly regarded hockey schools in North America, and we are excited that they will be bringing that expertise to the Metroplex.” Mark Lamb, Assistant Coach Dallas Stars.
Space is limited for the exclusive opportunity to be part of the inaugural year of the Dallas Stars Summer Hockey Camp. For more information, or to register online please visit |

Dr. Pepper History
April 14, 2008 at 10:13 pm | Posted in Uncategorized | Leave a commentDr. Pepper was invented by a pharmacist in 1885 in Waco, Texas. Long time I know:) …. By the way, his name is Charles Alderton.Alderton worked at a place called Morrison’s Old Corner Drug Store and carbonated drinks were served at the soda fountain. Alderton invented his own recipes for soft drinks and found one of his drinks was becoming very popular. His customers originally asked for the drink by asking Alderton to shoot them a “Waco”.
Morrison, owner of the drug store is credited with naming the drink “Dr Pepper” after a friend of his, Dr. Charles Pepper. Later in the 1950s the period was removed from the “Dr Pepper” name.
As demand grew Alderton and Morrison had trouble manufacturing enough “Dr Pepper” for their customers. Then in stepped, Robert S. Lazenby, Lazenby owned The Circle “A” Ginger Ale Company in Waco and was impressed with “Dr Pepper”. Alderton did not want to pursue the business and manufacturing end of soft drinks and agreed that Morrison and Lazenby should take over and become partners.
In 1891, Morrison and Lazenby formed the Artesian Mfg. & Bottling Company, which later became the Dr Pepper Company.
In 1904, the company introduced Dr Pepper to 20 million people attending the 1904, World’s Fair Exposition, in St. Louis. That same world’s fair introduced hamburger and hot dog buns and ice cream cones to the public.
The Dr Pepper Company is the oldest major manufacturer of soft drink concentrates and syrups in the United States.
